The life and times of Tinder McCartney, a gay male prostitute who becomes an unlikely hero when Pearl Harbor is attacked on December 7, 1941.
Over a two-year period, Tinder and his lover, Chinese businessman Jason Qui travel to Maui and back to Honolulu to help in the restoration of the devastated island. They are also instrumental in renewed trade agreements between the US and Japan and China.
All the while, their openly gay relationship targets them for different kinds of attacks—suffering intolerance and bigotry.
