As a story about the aftermath about what happens to a community when a tragedy, such as this, strikes, I have to say I was riveted to my seat and couldn’t put the book down. Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who can handle the subject matter of dealing with the aftermath of a school shooting. Highly recommend.

This was a very powerful book. It deals with the aftermath of a school shooting. Before I go any further, you need to understand I live five minutes from Sandy Hook School in Connecticut. I was a bit nervous before I started reading it. Would the author grasp the horror a community goes through afterward? How would she deal with the victims, the shooter, the issues. Carol Lynne did more than just deal with it. She put us in the heads of more than one person. We were in Mark's (the principal) head, Lane, his long time friend/lover's head, Mark's ex wife, Max, Mark's son. There were issues being addressed and voices we were literally hearing from. On top of the healing there was a discovery or two coming to the surface. I thought Carol gave this, very hot button, issue the respect it needed. She was sympathetic to all parties. We watched a family bond, grow, heal, and move on and it was breathtaking. This is a great book to have in your library. Read it!

Carol Lynne took a difficult subject and wrote a powerful book full of compassion for all. In death and despair we are all victims and must find forgiveness and understanding. Without that, we cannot make the world a better place.

. I thought the way this author wrote this story which was at times painful and so very sad, as a parent I could not even imagine going through something like this. But there was also very good moments too with the way Lane was there for Mark along with the way Mark’s son Max was there for him too.
All together I really loved the way this author wrote this book even though it was very sad to read!

I think Carol Lynne nailed this story perfectly. This book hit me hard, though it is very well written I still felt every word the author wrote. This is very powerful, hard hitting yet it still has some light hearted parts. Carol takes a hard subject and writes it in such a way that makes you understand, makes you feel like you are part of the whole story. I can’t recommend this book highly enough to those like a heartfelt story and a good cry.

I was blown away by It Was A Thursday by Carol Lynne. Yes, there was romance mixed in, but the story is about dealing with the aftermath of a tragic event. The depth and feeling that is portrayed is sure to touch anyone in this day and age. For a story that deals with all too real events, the author has done an excellent job accurately portraying the results of a tragedy that should not have occurred. There is raw fear and guilt by those left behind along with a sense of relief for having survived. I especially like the down to earth treatment of the events portrayed and the lack of sensationalism on the author’s part. It Was A Thursday was an on the edge of my seat reading experience. It was an incredible depiction of the aftermath with raw emotion being passed onto the reader.

Carol Lynne has created a story that is both agonizing to read and yet is a must. Yes, it is a romance but that comes second. At the fore is the need to survive life and be a survivor. There is no attempt to justify the heinous act, but she does give us a reason behind it. As readers, we are left to evaluate our feelings on the matter. In my case, I thought it was senseless but after knowing the boy behind the crime, I reached a conclusion I have to live with. Was it necessary, the reasoning behind all the violence? Could it be stopped? How?
The questions are left unanswered and in real life, they are never answered. A different Carol Lynne I could not regret. Even if this is out during the holiday season, it is a much recommended read. The least it can do is make you think of your life's priorities and maybe do something about it.

I really enjoyed this tale of second chance romance. It does have a heavy subject matter, particularly if you are an American reader. It is very well handled, I thought, and is delivered in such a way you get it all. The whole story takes time to come out, but I liked that. Its not as explicit as some male/male books, but that's not a bad thing here. Its more about the emotional aftermath of such a traumatic event, and how (for some people, everyone is different) to deal with it, and move on, and its about a love that lasted a lifetime, even if it took that lifetime to get there. Its only short, just over an hour reading time, but it packs quiet a punch. Its also the first I've read of this author, and hope it isn't the last.
